Myrtle Point Waterfront Park

Myrtle Point Waterfront Park spans 192 acres along the Patuxent River near the Chesapeake Bay in California, Maryland. With 7 miles of hiking trails, two miles of shoreline for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding, and an unguarded beach for wading and swimming, the park offers a full day of outdoor activity in a quiet, natural setting. The land was purchased in 1997 through the Maryland Open Space Program and carries deep archaeological significance, with evidence of human habitation stretching back more than 9,000 years, alongside rich wildlife and migratory bird habitat along its saltwater ponds.

Vehicle access runs seasonally through Labor Day, with a $25 per-vehicle fee on weekends and holidays and free entry on weekdays, while walk-in access continues year-round after the vehicle season ends. Visitors will find picnic tables and basic restroom facilities on-site, along with a tobacco- and vape-free policy throughout the park.
